The Faculty of Education was initiated by the President of Rangsit University Dr Arthit Ourairat who has envisioned acute needs in supporting and strengthening the teaching profession with a standpoint to be well-recognized by the public at large. Professionalism of the teaching personnel can effectively realize and sustain the Education Reform of the country. In this regard, high quality teachers thus constitute the core of the Education Reform and in turn serve as a primary factor for social and economic development of Thailand.

The Faculty of Education started as a project under guidance of Dr Vichai Tunsiri as consultant to the Project Director Manit Boonprasert. The project had two phases: (1) Development of Satit Bilingual School of Rangsit University with two main functions—a demonstration school of bilingual education and a platform for teacher training and research in bilingual education (2) Development of a faculty with graduate programs in Bilingual Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Administration, and Educational Studies. It was expected that a five-year program combining a specialized undergraduate program with a Master degree program in Education should be put into practice to produce well-trained teachers in the subject areas like Mathematics, Languages, Science, Social Studies, and Communication Information Technology. The ultimate goals of the project were on excellence in bilingual education and production of the new-generation-teachers for the twenty-first century and beyond.

The project was approved by the Governing Board of Rangsit University in Meeting 2-2547 on 16 June 2547 [2004]. The Faculty of Education started recruiting new students into M. Ed. Program in Bilingual Education in Semester 1-2004. From the beginning of its operations up to now, the Faculty has developed five programs: (1) M. Ed. in Bilingual Education [2004], (2) M. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction [2005], (3) M. Ed. in Educational Administration [2007], (4) Ed. D. Doctor of Education Program [2008] and (5) M. A. in Teaching Science [2013].

The Faculty of Education has envisioned itself as a leader in high-quality educational practices and educational research in three areas (1) Bilingual Education, (2) Curriculum and Instruction, and (3) Educational Administration. Excellence in these three areas is for development of the new-generation teacher as well as internationalized and effectively strategic educators.


The Faculty of Education has its mission on five functions:
     (1) Provide education at the graduate level to develop academic and professional qualifications for teachers and educators.
     (2) Conduct research and develop educational innovations in Bilingual Education, Curriculum and Instruction, and Educational Administration.
     (3) Provide academic services to communities concerned for networking among basic, high and community-based educators.
     (4) Promote and sustain for continuation of Thai culture and positive acculturations.

The Faculty of Education has recognized the significance of the Education Reform prescribed by the National Education Act in 2542 BE. The Act aims at creating high quality in educational practices regarding professional qualifications, learner-centered teaching, analytical and synthetic thinking skills in learners, information communication technology skills, continual learning desire and life-long learning. These desirable aspects of teaching and learning in educational practices constitute a philosophical foundation for the Faculty of Education. Through its operations, the Faculty focuses on development and support for learners’ experience with interactive learning activities, logical thinking skills, self-learning skills, open-mindedness and tolerance toward social, political and cultural differences in a constantly changing society.

The new-generation teacher is to develop oneself into a knowledgeable and skilled person to be able to cope with change and project oneself as a role model of an enthusiastic learner for life-long learning and a good leader of educational innovation while taking into consideration Quality, Virtue, and Value.

Quality refers to operations with clear-cut identified objectives, effective strategies, success indicators and key performance indices in terms of efficiency and effectiveness

Virtue refers to standards of professional behaviors in the framework of educators’ ethics acceptable to Thai culture and society

Value refers to value for recognition, respect for others and professional ethics.



     (1) Produce high-quality graduates at the Master and Doctoral level according to the guidelines for standards of higher education.
     (2) Develop the Faculty into an excellence in graduate studies to be recognized locally and internationally.
     (3) Conduct research and field development in the areas of Bilingual Education, Curriculum and Instruction, and Educational Administration.
     (4) Respond to needs of Rangsit University and external communities in providing academic services for Thai and non-Thai educators.
     (5) Preserve and maintain for continuation of Thai culture and positive acculturations

The Faculty of Education has developed its integrated identity on the new-generation teacher. Its systematic operations center on teacher professional development with the following dimensions: (1)high-quality graduate programs, (2) highly competent course instructors, (3) colloquia to support students’ logical, analytical, synthetic thinking skills (4) reasoning with positive or negative supporting evidence (5) problem-solving skills in case studies (6) study trips in Thailand and ASEAN-plus-ten countries (7) supporting activities for research in education (8) the use of Information Communication Technology and Educational Innovations (9) adjustment to change (10) involvement in the Education Reform Trend in Thailand.
