Participation of MA Teaching Science Graduates ID 2556 in IPST Orientation on Teaching Profession on 10-14 October 2015

MA Teaching Science Graduates ID 2556 (Batch 1) participated in the Orientation Program organized by IPST Institute for Promotion of Science and Technology in collaboration with King Mongkut University of Technology Lard Krabang and Burapa University on 10-14 October 2015 at Pinehurst Hotel Pathumthani.

The purpose of the Orientation was to prepare the graduates for a teaching career in government schools regarding professional ethics and duties as well as desirable science-teacher characteristics. Topics for lectures and discussions were : (1) IPST expectation of good science teachers, (2) Regulations of Teacher Welfare, (3) Law and regulations for teachers as civil servants, (4) Teaching as a profession, and (5) Procedure for Teaching Appointment in Government Schools.

The Orientation was warmly closed with a Welcome-to-Teaching-Profession Ceremony for all MA Teaching Science graduates in attendance.

MA Program in Teaching Science organized an activity-based lecture on Ethics and Standards of Teaching Professionals on 30 October 2015, in Seminar Room 3-612, Building 3, Floor 6, Faculty of Education, Rangsit University. The guest speaker Khun Kannikar Baramee, Director of Professional Standards, the Council of Teachers, conducted an activity-based session on regulations regarding Ethics and Standards of Teaching Professionals and closed it with a friendly question-period for the audience.

A representative team from MA Teaching Science Program participated in "Graduate Rangsit Games" at DHL Blu-o Rhythm & Bowl, Siam Paragon on Sunday 8 November 2015. MA students enjoyed the games in a fun and friendly atmosphere with graduate students from different programs in the RSU Graduate School. Well… scores are not so important as stylistic throws!

Dr Pimurai Limpapath, Program Director of M. Ed in in Bilingual Education invited H.E. Mikael Hemniti Winther to give a talk to graduate students and staff members on the topic of Cultural Issues in Communication with Two Languages on Saturday 14 November 2015, in Seminar Room 3-601, Building 3, Floor 6, Faculty of Education, Rangsit University. The guest speaker gave an inspiring talk about his experience with cultural considerations in communicating across other languages; the session was closed it with a fun question-period enjoyed by both the speaker and the audience.

M. Ed. Program in Curriculum and Instruction by Program Director Dr Maneepen Apibalsri took five Bhutanese students under Trongsa Penlop Scholatrship to visit Satit Bilingual School of Rangsit University. The purpose was to update the scholarship recipients with educational management and practices in Thai Basic Education as well as learning/ social/ cultural activities in eight subject strands.

M. Ed. Program in Curriculum and Instruction by Land of Dragons Team of Bhutanese Students won the Second Prize at the 17th Graduate Rangsit Games organized by the RSU Graduate School at DHL Blu-o Rhythm & Bowl, Siam Paragon on Sunday 8 November 2015. The second team of Thai CI students was praised for their entertaining activities for the audience. All participants from different graduate programs enjoyed the Games while getting to know new faces in a friendly atmosphere.

Staff and students of M. Ed. Program in Curriculum and Instruction attended “World-Class Schools Edu Fair 2015” organized by Vajiravuth Vidhyalai College Bangkok on 13-14 November 2015. The first day featured a conference titled “Innovative Practices of World-Class Schools : Towards World-Class Citizens” by Prof Dr Somwang Piriyanuwat, Chair of Management Board of the Institute for National Testing Thailand. The second day displayed “WCS Exhibition on 21st Century Education” for all incoming participants in the field of education and the general public.

All staff members updated program operations 2015 in Bilingual Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Administration, Teaching Science and Educational Studies. Discussed were Rangsit University Indicators and KPIs for Action Plan 2015-2016, Budget Allocation, Knowledge and Risk Management, Program Marketing and Student Admission Strategies, and new assignment from the RSU President in Academic Year 2016.

The Sixth Conference of the Faculty of Education, Rangsit University on Saturday 27 February 2016

The Faculty of Education organized its sixth conference on the topic of “Thinking Skills Development of Learners at the Primary and Secondary School Level” on Saturday 27 February 2016, 8:30-15:30 hrs, Multimedia Complex, Rangsit University. The Conference served as an annual academic service for educational communities and the general public.

The Chair of the Conference was Prof Dr Pornchai Matangkasombat, M.D. as Representative of RSU President Dr Arthit Ourairat. Two distinguished guest speakers in the morning session were Dr Somkiati Ariyapruchya, Dean Emeritus of Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations RSU, and H.E. Mikael Hemniti Winther, Embassador of Denmark to Thailand—both giving thought-provoking points on cultural patterns of thought and educational systems that accommodate ways of thinking in the eastern and western modes.

The afternoon session had 18 research presentations by school teachers, educators, and educational researchers under four subtopics: (1) Thinking Skills Development in Teaching Science, (2) Thinking Skills Development and Achievements, (3) Major Issues in Thinking Skills Development, and (4) Research in Thinking Skills Development.

The Organizing Committee had the Conference Proceedings in print copies and CDs for all participants. The registered audience was 200 and the conference overall evaluation turned out positive as planned.

Program in Bilingual Education by Dr Pimurai Limpapath and graduate students organized English Activities “Teach for Fun, Food for Thought” for Primary 1 students at Wat Rangsit School on 7.03.16. A lot of fun shared between the volunteering teachers and those lively participating learners.

M.A. Program in Teaching Science Workshop on Construction of Learning Management Plans

On 9-10 February 2016, Assoc prof Dr Kanchana Chanpraset chaired the opening of Workshop on Construction of Learning Management Plans. The Workshop was conducted by the program staff member Dr Manit Boonprasert, aiming at providing knowledge and practical guidelines for the students to construct their learning management plans as responsive to the identified learning objectives. The evaluation result was Very Good (Mean = 4.73; S.D. =0.77).

M. Ed. Program in Curriculum and Instruction Thesis Seminar on Sunday 14 February 2016

M. Ed. Program in Curriculum and Instruction [CI] by Dr Srisamorm Poomsa-ard and the program staff conducted a thesis seminar for CI students to work on thesis topic identification, information search in support of the identified topic, followed by thesis proposal writing. The morning session dealt with CI students ID 2557 sharing their thesis experience with their peers ID 2558 via their demonstration of thesis proposal oral defenses. The afternoon session prompted CI students ID 2558 to try what they had learned from the morning session in small groups guided by the program staff members. The evaluation results turned out positive at 4.59 Very Good.

M.A. Program in Teaching Science Study Trip to the Republic of South Korea 8-12 March 2016

M.A. Program in Teaching Science by Assoc Prof Dr Kanchana Chanprasert (M.A. Program Director) and two program staff members Asst Prof Dr Araya Mungchamnankit and Dr Tanawan Asawarachan, led a group of thirteen M.A. students [Batch 3] to visit Korean Dongpae Junior High School, English Village School, and Hangman Academy in the Republic of South Korea on 8-12 March 2016. The visit focused on teaching and learning in the areas of mathematics, science and English, science lab work, and English-based science instruction. Included on the study trip were tourist attractions, particularly Korean culture and ways of life reflecting on the current trend of Korean Education. The study trip was an eye-opening experience for the visiting team. The evaluation of the study trip was at a very good level.

Wattanaphol (Acting Director of IPST Follow-up Unit), and Khun Wivaporn Sudsawaeng (IPST Academic Officer) on their follow-up visit of IPST scholarship recipients at IPST Center at Rangsit University. The agenda covered program operations, school practicum, follow-up interviews with IPST scholarship recipients in Batch 2 (year 2014) and Batch 3 (year 2015).________

M. Ed. Program in Curriculum and Instruction [CI] by Asst Prof Dr Somchanok Phu-ampai and Dr Srisamorm Poomsa-ard took a group of CI Thai and Bhutanese students in Cultural Promotion Project on Integration of Dhamma into Learning, to visit Wat Buddha Panya, Nontaburi on Sunday 20 March 2016. Included on the visit were a gallery of homage places of the Buddha, a dhamma lecture and merit-making activities. All participants were happy with their learning experience in the dhamma- and culture-based project organized by the CI Program Staff.

M. Ed. Program in Bilingual Education and M. Ed. Program in Educational Administration organized a study trip to Singapore as part of Course EDU 610 Comparative Study and Course EDU 663 Seminar in Educational Administration on 15-17 March 2016. Dr Pannarat Kadish led the group of 23 graduate students to visit INSEAD University (with No 1 Global MBA Program ranked by Financial Times) and Academies Australasia College (Primary and Secondary Education). Included on the trip were tourist attractions, Sentosa, and Universal Studio. All participants evaluated their learning experience on the trip at a very good level.

M. Ed. Program in Bilingual Education A Cultural Project on Donwai Cultural Community and Air Orchids Farm, Nakon Pathom on Sunday 3 April 2016

M. Ed. Program in Bilingual Education [BLE] by Dr Pimurai Limpapath took a group of BLE students to visit the traditional market at Donwai Cultural Community. The visit was part of the Program’s cultural project for Thai and international graduate students to learn about ways of Thai life in the past and currently kept as examples of living traditions. Included on the trip was Air Orchids Farm with magnificently colorful flowers in bloom. All participants enjoyed their time over cultural activities in the project organized by the BLE Program Staff.

M. Ed. Program in Educational Administration organized a study trip to C ASEAN on 5 April 2016. Dr Pannarat Kadish led a group of graduate students to visit C ASEAN for the purpose of learning and understanding of directions taken by the member countries in the ASEAN Community in the economic, social and cultural perspectives. The Center Director Asst Prof Dr Karndee Leopairote welcomed all participants and gave explanations on the center’s activities. Such a local study trip provided a good overall picture of the ASEAN Community for educational leaders.

13:30-15:30: Four presentations on doctoral research proposals on (1) Preventive Health Education at the School Level, (2) Human Resource Development in Registration Work at the Tertiary Level of Education, (3) Classroom Observation for Development in Teaching and Learning at the Primary School Level, and (4) Academic Acceleration for Learners at the Primary School Level. CI Program Orientation 2016
by M. Ed. Program in Curriculum and Instruction on Saturday 6 August 2016

Dr Nipaporn Chalermnirundon Director of M. Ed. Program in Curriculum and Instruction welcomed the new students and her program staff members to the orientation. The Program Director outlined the program structure and requirements, followed by basic information about the Faculty of Education. Two staff members Asst Prof Dr Somchanok Phuamai and Assoc Prof Dr Kanchana Chanprasert were present at the orientation. After the orientation, Assoc Prof Dr Kanchana Chanprasert started the first session of EDC 606 Curriculum Design and Development.

The second M. Ed. CI Orientation for international students was held on Thursday 11 August 2016. After the orientation, Asst Prof Dr Somchanok Phuamai started the first session of EDC 606 Curriculum Design and Development.

Faculty of Education Staff Meeting 1-2016 on Thursday 28 July 2016

Faculty of Education, Rangsit University held its first staff meeting in Academic Year 2016 in Seminar Room Le Bel Air, Amari Hotel Don Muang on Thursday 28 July 2016. All staff members updated their program operations for incoming students and reviewed major issues related to the University’s academic policy on educational innovations and digitization, research and publication, staff professional development and quality assurance.

Dr Wallapa Chalermvongsavej Program Director of M. Ed. Program in Educational Administration hosted an orientation for incoming students in Academic Year 2016 on Saturday 6 August 2016. Merit Making at Wat Klong Baan Mhai on the Twelfth Anniversary (2004-2016) of the Faculty of Education Rangsit University on Monday 8 August 2016

Faculty of Education, Rangsit University made merit on the Twelfth Anniversary (2004-2016) at Wat Klong Baan Mhai Pathumthani on Monday 8 August 2016. The staff members offered food and Sanghadana in 14 sets to monks for auspicious blessings for the Faculty and the Staff. The Faculty of Education was grateful to Khun Jinda Sutthikana for preparing food and Sanghadana items for all staff members.

Faculty of Education Internal Quality Assurance 2015 at the Program Level on 15-19 August 2016

Faculty of Education Rangsit University welcomed the RSU-IQA Inspection Committees at the Program Level on 15-19 August 2016. The five Committees inspected Six IQA components and supporting documents for 13 IQA-indicators of five graduate programs. The IQA scores were averaged at a high level.

Ed.D. Program Orientation 2016 on Saturday 17 September 2016

Assoc Prof Dr Ruja Pholsward, Ed.D. Program Director hosted Ed.D. Program Orientation 2016 on Saturday 17 September 2016. In attendance were four professors: Dr Supatra Pradubpongse [Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research], Dr Donrutai Boonprasitt [Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs], Dr Pimurai Limpapath [Associate Dean for Educational Development and International Relations] and Dr Wanida Ploysangwal. Also present were students representing their batch ID 2013-2014: Mattana and Thatri. The Program staff members and representative students ID 2013-2014 heartily welcome all incoming students.

After the orientation, course EDU 709 Leadership in Educational Innovation started with Module 1.

M. Ed. Program in Bilingual Education students ID 2016 led by Program Director Dr Tanawan Asawarachan to visit the Golden Jubilee Museum of Agriculture on 18.09.59. A lot of fun for the participating students in their acting mode as Thai farmers .

Visit from the Research Team of Columbia Teachers College, USA on 16-18 November 2016

In collaboration with the Institute for Promotion of Science and Technology Thailand (IPST), Prof Dr Majorie Siegel led the research team from Columbia Teachers College to visit the MA Program in Teaching Science at the Faculty of Education, Rangsit University on 16-18 November 2016. The agenda items include data collection on MA program operations, staff and student interviews, followed by practicum observation at four MA-partner schools in Pathumthani Province.

Discussed were Rangsit University Indicators and KPIs for Development Plan 2017-2021, Budget Allocation, Knowledge and Risk Management, Program Marketing and Student Admission Strategies, and new assignment from the RSU President in Academic Year 2017.

The Seventh Conference of the Faculty of Education, Rangsit University on Saturday 25 February 2017

The Faculty of Education organized its seventh conference on the topic of “Technolo0gy for Educational Innovation” on Saturday 25 February 2017, 8:30-15:30 hrs, Multimedia Complex, Rangsit University. The Conference served as an annual academic service for educational communities and the general public.

Two distinguished feature speakers in the morning session were Professor Emeritus Dr Supachai Tangwongsant, Mahidol University and Assistant Professor Dr Suttisak Jantavongso, ICT College, Rangsit University. Both speakers showed highlights of the digital trend as well as thought-provoking points for the audience.

The afternoon session had 20 research and academic paper presentations by school teachers, educators, and educational researchers under four subtopics: (1) Technology for Education, (2) New Trend in Learning and Teaching, (3) Learning Management, and (4) Vital Issues of Learning.

The Organizing Committee had the Conference Proceedings 2017 in print copies and the journal Rangsit Journal of Educational Studies (RJES) for all participants. The registered audience was 265 and the conference overall evaluation turned out highly satisfactory as planned.
